Ontario Tech acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.

We are thankful to be welcome on these lands in friendship. The lands we are situated on are covered by the Williams Treaties and are the traditional territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation, including Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. These lands remain home to many Indigenous nations and peoples.

We acknowledge this land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for Turtle Island, also called North America, from before the arrival of settler peoples until this day. Most importantly, we acknowledge that the history of these lands has been tainted by poor treatment and a lack of friendship with the First Nations who call them home.

This history is something we are all affected by because we are all treaty people in Canada. We all have a shared history to reflect on, and each of us is affected by this history in different ways. Our past defines our present, but if we move forward as friends and allies, then it does not have to define our future.

Canada Graduate Scholarship - Doctoral Program

Canada’s three federal granting agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) have launched a harmonized Canada Graduate Scholarship - Doctoral (CGS-D) program with a common deadline. This harmonization is driven by the desire to remove barriers, have consistent processes across the three agencies, and to simplify the application and adjudication processes.

  • CIHR: Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Awards
  • NSERC: Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships
  • SSHRC: Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships
  • Value and duration

    $20,000 to $35,000 per year, up to 36 months

  • Quotas
    • Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) – three*
    • Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) – four*
    • Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) – four*

    *Quotas are determined by the individual granting agency. If there is a discrepancy between the advertised quotas here and those of the CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC, the latter shall prevail.

  • How to apply

    To determine whether you should apply to the Ontario Tech quota competition or apply directly through one of the applicable agencies please follow the steps below:

    Step 1: Refer to Where should I submit my application.
    Step 2: Once you have determined where to submit your application, you must complete your application by selecting the Application procedures.
    Step 3: Ensure that you visit the appropriate agency’s application website and instructions:

  • Transcripts

    Transcripts are a mandatory requirement to demonstrate eligibility and are an integral part of the material reviewed by the selection committees.

    Applications that do not adhere to agency-specific instructions and guidelines may be rejected.

    Please follow agency-specific instructions for attaching transcripts to your application. These instructions are embedded into the application process.
