Winter 2025 Graduate Orientation

Welcome to Graduate Studies at Ontario Tech University! The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) is delighted to welcome you to our vibrant graduate community. This Graduate Orientation session is your opportunity to learn how SGPS can support your success by providing guidance and resources every step of the way.

Date: Tuesday, January 7 | noon to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Gym 3, Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre

The orientation will feature a welcome address by Dr. Joe Stokes, Interim Dean of SGPS, followed by an overview of SGPS services available to enhance your graduate experience.

After the session, explore various booths where you can connect with representatives from faculties and key university departments, including Finance, Registration, Academic Affairs, Thesis Support and the International Office. Take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions, find resources, and discover ways to get involved.

Winter 2025 Online Orientation Sessions

Plan Your Journey – Thursday, January 16 | 1 to 2 p.m.
Join Shelly Windsor, Graduate Academic Affairs Specialist from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS), for a valuable session on navigating academic and financial challenges in graduate school. Shelly will introduce essential resources, share strategies for success, and discuss opportunities to connect with and engage in the graduate student community. This session is a must-attend for anyone looking to make the most of their graduate experience and access the support needed to thrive.

Starting off Strong: Library Resources 101 – Thursday, January 23 | 11:00 a.m. to noon
Discover the wealth of library resources available to you with Ontario Tech's Librarian Liaison, Kaelan Caspary (Faculty of Science). In this session, tailored for graduate students, you'll learn about Ontario Tech's extensive collections, welcoming learning spaces, and the diverse services and programs provided by our knowledgeable and friendly library team.
