Spring/Summer 2025 Graduate Orientation

Welcome to Graduate Studies at Ontario Tech University! The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) is delighted to welcome you to our vibrant graduate community. To ensure you’re fully prepared to begin your graduate studies, we would like to invite you to our Graduate Student Orientation Session.

Join us on Wednesday, May 7 from 10 a.m. to noon (location TBD) for our Graduate Student Orientation session! This session is your opportunity to learn how SGPS can support your success by providing guidance and resources every step of the way.

The orientation will feature a welcome address by Dr. Joe Stokes, Interim Dean of SGPS, followed by an overview of SGPS services available to enhance your graduate experience.

After the session, explore various booths where you can connect with representatives from faculties and key university departments, including Finance, Registration, Academic Affairs, Thesis Support and the International Office. Take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions, find resources, and discover ways to get involved.

Spring/Summer 2025 Online Orientation Sessions

Register for our upcoming online orientation engagement sessions this spring. These sessions are designed to equip you with tips, tricks and resources to ensure a smooth transition into the coming semester.

Plan Your Journey – Wednesday, April 16 | 4 to 5 p.m.

Shelly Windsor, our Graduate Academic Affairs Specialist from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS), will lead an insightful session discussing how to handle academic and financial issues. She will highlight key resources available for graduate students and explain ways to connect and get involved with our graduate student community. This session is an excellent opportunity to learn about the support and resources available to help you succeed in your graduate studies.

Graduate Groundwork: Understanding Student Expectations – Wednesday, April 30 | 4 to 5 p.m.

Congratulations on advancing to the next phase of your academic career! As you transition from undergraduate to graduate studies, you'll encounter new and increased expectations. Join Shelly Windsor, our Graduate Academic Affairs Specialist from the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS), for an informative workshop. Shelly will guide you through your responsibilities, covering essential topics such as university policies, important deadlines, program time limits, research ethics, academic integrity, and more. Gaining a clear understanding of these expectations from the start will be crucial for your success at Ontario Tech!
