Teaching Assistant (TA) opportunities
The surveys below collect interest, intent to work, and qualifications from TA candidates to help inform TA assignments each term. If a candidate is interested in –and qualified for –TA work in more than one Faculty, they must respond to each applicable Faculty survey.
Candidates who do not respond to the surveys will be assumed to be uninterested and/or unavailable*.
The surveys will be open for response in advance of each term on the following timelines for the 2025-26 academic year:
Fall
COMPLETED
April 14, 2025 to June 1, 2025
Winter
OPEN
September 2, 2025 to October 1, 2025
Spring/summer
UPCOMING
January 2, 2026 to February 2, 2026
Please note that response to a survey enters the candidate into consideration for TA assignments only and does not guarantee an offer. Furthermore, while preference and interest (where collected) will be taken into account where possible, they cannot always be accommodated. There are many factors informing the TA assignment process, including but not limited to graduate minimum funding commitments, qualifications, course offerings, course formats, enrolment volume, conflicts for synchronous commitments, and more. You should also be aware that any assignment may require in-person responsibilities. These responsibilities are established by the course instructor and remote work cannot be expected or guaranteed.
Teaching Assistant (TA) employment opportunities at Ontario Tech University are assigned and compensated in accordance with the Local 000555 Public Services Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Teaching Assistant/Research Assistant/Invigilator Collective Agreement. A response to these surveys will constitute confirmation of availability to work for TA Pool B Employees (per 12.03 B iv), or as an indication of interested to work for TA Pool C Employees (per 12.03 C i). TA Pool C Employees must respond by May 1, October 1, and February 1 to indicate interest for fall, winter, and spring/summer terms, respectively (per 12.03 C ii).
*A Pool A candidate’s failure to respond to these surveys will not constitute a waiver of any TAship commitment they may have received in their funding package.
