It is expected that students in fee-per-credit programs will be registered in courses each term until the completion of their coursework and will, therefore, be continuously enrolled in their program and pay tuition in all three terms per year as well. The only exception is for graduate students with an approved leave of absence for the term. Leaves of absence are only approved if a valid reason is stated, along with official supporting documentation. While on a leave, you may not register for any courses, undertake any research work or use any of the university’s facilities.

3The Master of Engineering (MEng and MEngM) programs has changed to a fee-per-credit structure for students admitted to these programs in Fall 2024. The 2024-2025 fee-per-credit tuition rate for domestic MEng and MEngM students is $1,476.66 per course (total program fee: $14,766.57). Students who began the Master of Engineering (MEng and MEngM) programs prior to Fall 2024 will remain flat-fee.

Students enrolled in UNENE are considered part-time students and pay compulsory ancillary fees.

  • Continuation fee
Graduate students in fee-per-credit programs will be charged a continuance fee for their continuing work on a major paper, project or thesis for each term extension beyond the normal degree components. The continuation fee will be based on three credits for part-time graduate students or six credits for full-time graduate students, plus ancillary fees.

Minimum program tuition

  • Policy

The minimum program tuition fees must be paid in full before any tuition reimbursement will be considered.

All domestic graduate students who complete a program are required to pay at least the minimum program tuition fee for that program. This minimum program tuition fee is the same for all domestic students in a program, regardless of their part-time or full-time status. The minimum program tuition fee is calculated by taking the full-time tuition fee for the program in the first term of registration multiplied by the minimum standard number of terms for full-time students in that program. Both part-time and full-time students who finish their program's degree requirements in fewer terms than the standard minimum period of registration and who have paid less tuition than the program's minimum degree fee must pay the balance of this fee before graduation. The minimum program tuition fee may be reduced by transfer credits or advanced standing, if the award of these credits or standing shortens the number of minimum terms required of the student. Such reductions in the minimum degree fee are established at the time of initial registration.

If a student has paid more than the minimum program tuition fee due to the time taken to complete the degree requirements, there will be no refund of fees.

For details on the minimum tuition fees by program, please contact gradfinance@ontariotechu.ca

  • Graduate tuition fees are assessed on a program basis for the normal program length and for any subsequent term of registration. Fees are subject to change without notice. Every effort has been made to ensure that the fees listed on this page are accurate. In the event of an inconsistency between the fees published here and those approved by the university Board of Governors and/or administration, the latter shall prevail.
  • In addition to the fees above, students are also required to pay ancillary fees.
