For more than 20 years, Mitacs has created job and professional development opportunities for students and postdocs, paving the way for the next generation of researchers. Through active partnerships, Mitacs fosters innovation in a wide range of disciplines in order to improve quality of life for Canadians.

Within this vein, Mitacs offers the Globalink Research Award (GRA), which promotes research based collaborations between institutions and researchers in Canada and partner organizations both within Canada and around the world.

How does it work?

Graduate candidates who are successful in their application are presented with a $6,000 research award to conduct a 12 to 14 week project in another country, all while under the supervision of a host professor.

I’m interested…am I eligible?

In order to apply for this award, applicants must be registered as full-time graduate students at an eligible Canadian institution and remain as such throughout the length of their Globalink Research Award.

Ok…When can I apply?

Mitacs accepts applications for the Globalink Research Award on an ongoing basis but they encourage eligible candidates to apply at least 16 weeks before they plan to start their research projects.
