Pre-Orientation Sessions 2026 (Online)

  • Grad Ready: Welcome to SGPS - Wednesday, June 10 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    In this session the Dean and the team of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) will welcome you to this exciting new chapter! We will provide information on SGPS and graduate studies at Ontario Tech and provide some key resources and contacts. Whether you need help navigating student services, have questions about your upcoming experience, or simply want to meet the SGPS team.

  • Navigating the International Office - Wednesday, June 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Join our International Student Advisors at Ontario Tech University's International Office, for an informative session designed specifically for incoming international graduate students. This session will cover a range of topics, including pre-arrival preparations, arrival procedures, and immigration-related matters. Don't miss this opportunity to gain important insights and transition to your studies at Ontario Tech as an International student.

  • Registration RoadMap - Wednesday, June 24 and Wednesday, July 8 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT) (Postponed)

    Connect with the SGPS team and Enrolment Services team from the Office of the Registrar to guide you through the registration process.This session will walk through the registration process from start to finish and registration systems and help you successfully register into your courses for Fall.

  • Plan Your Journey - Wednesday, July 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Meet the Graduate Affairs Specialist from SGPS, Shelly Windsor, will share ways she can support and guide you throughout your journey as a graduate student. We will also review important dates, key graduate policies and procedures, the academic calendar, and other essential tools and resources designed to help you successfully navigate your program and achieve your academic goals.

  • Graduate Groundwork: Understanding Student Expectations - Wednesday, July 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    As you transition from undergraduate to graduate studies, you'll encounter new and increased expectations. Join the SGPS team for an informative workshop with breakout sessions tailored for both research and course-based students. We will guide you through your responsibilities, covering essential topics such as university policies, important deadlines, program time limits, research ethics, academic integrity, and more.  Gaining a clear understanding of these expectations from the start will be crucial for your success at Ontario Tech!

  • Graduate Finance Essentials - Wednesday, July 29 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Funding your education can be expensive and stressful, in this session you will meet the Graduate Finance Team. They will cover the different types of funding available for research-based programs, assistantships, awards and scholarships. They will help to explain and breakdown tuition fees, ancillary fees, payment options and deadlines. 

  • Balance Beyond Academics - Wednesday, August 12 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Balancing academics with everything else in life can feel overwhelming, but with the right strategies and support, it’s possible to succeed while maintaining your well-being. In this session, you’ll learn about campus resources designed to support your overall wellness, including student life services, the student learning centre, mental health services, athletics and recreation, and strategies to build meaningful connections within the campus community.

  • Library Launchpad - Wednesday, August 19 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Come by and meet the Library team who will discuss their supports, services and resources to help you to academic success. The Library team will inform you on their extensive collection, welcoming learning spaces, and the diverse program offerings.

  • Grad Ready: Drop in Q&A - Wednesday, August 26 from 4 to 5 p.m. (EDT)

    Join us for the final pre-orientation session before you arrive on campus, this is your opportunity to drop by and ask any last minute questions. The team from SGPS will be there to support you and guide you through any issues you are experiencing. This will be a relaxed drop-in session, there is no question too small!

Fall Orientation 2026 (In-Person)

Fall Orientation will take place in-person from Friday, September 4 to Monday, September 7, welcoming both undergraduate and graduate students from across the university.

All grad students are encouraged to attend the graduate orientation session on Friday, September 4 from 12:45–2 PM on our North campus in the Science building, room SCI 1350. 

International students are additionally encouraged to attend International Orientation, which will also be located in SCI 1350, from 9 AM-12 PM on Friday, September 4.
